Senate Confirms Foxx

(June 27, 2013) the U.S. Senate voted to approve unanimously (100-0) the nomination of Charlotte, NC Mayor Anthony Foxx as the new Secretary of Transportation. Foxx’s nomination for the post went fairly quickly except for a slight delay in the vote by the Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee.
Timing on his swearing is unknown at this time. He first must resign as Charlotte’s mayor.
Foxx succeeds Secretary LaHood. LaHood served over four years as head of the agency and was the only Republican to serve in the Obama cabinet.
