Gulf Winds featured on JOC.com
Gulf Winds is pleased to have been featured on JOC.com last week in their coverage of Houston’s Resin growth.
The onset of new resin production in the Gulf Coast region will be good news for Gulf Winds International. The Houston-based transloading and distribution company expects booming petrochemical plant construction in the region to lead to a surge in containerized exports and transloading.
âThereâs tremendous opportunity on the transportation side and the steamship side for new volumes moving through the port of Houston,â Todd Stewart, president of the company, said in an interview Thursday. Starting May 2, Maersk Line and Mediterranean Shipping Co. will add a weekly Panama Canal service linking Asia with the U.S. Gulf ports of Houston and Mobile.
Houston expects the petrochemical expansion could generate 300,000 to 500,000 additional TEUs a year of resin exports during the next several years, with China a leading market. Most of that product will begin moving next year, as production facilities come online, Stewart said.
